Dungeons & Dragons film reviews may be good for LEGO Ideas

The first reactions and reviews to the 2023 Dungeons & Dragons movie are here and things may be looking good ahead of the LEGO Ideas set.  Dungeons & Dragons: Honor among Thieves’ release date is near and the first reviews and reactions to the film have been shared online. This comes around a year before the LEGO Ideas Dungeons & Dragons set as well as the 50th anniversary of the game and the performance of this film could affect how it expands in the immediate future.

On the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, the 2023 film currently holds a score of 90% from critics.

The 2000 Dungeons & Dragons movie is sitting at around 10% from critics, at the time of writing, for comparison.  Reviews praise its visuals, characters and action sequences and overall, first impressions appear to be positive. While it has yet to be released to a wider audience, it could be a good sign for the roleplaying game brand ahead of the upcoming LEGO Ideas set.

It’s also potentially welcome news for the live-action streaming series that has reportedly been ordered, which may also affect how the property is viewed by mainstream audiences. 

The LEGO Ideas set is likely coming in 2024 in time for the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons and based on a winning challenge entry.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves arrives in cinemas from March 31 with dates varying per region.
