What to expect from the Fall 2022 event

Microsoft said it plans to use its Fall 2022 event to "talk about devices". The event's invite has a Windows wallpaper-like image of watercolours with "save the date" handwritten text. The company might unveil a range of new Surface devices, but the rumour mill has been dialing in on two specific Surfaces within the last few weeks: A new 2-in-1 device (called the Surface Pro 9 and the latest Surface Laptop 5.

They'll follow the Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop 4.[3][4] According to WinFuture[5], both devices will be available with 12th Gen Intel CPUs, up from the 11th Gen models seen in last year's Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop 4. You can expect to see the Intel Core i5-1235U in the entry-level models and a Core i7-1255U at the higher-end models.

Storage should max out at 1TB, with up to 16GB of RAM. In addition to the Intel chips, you might be able to configure the Surface Pro 9 with an Arm-based processor. WinFuture claimed this silicon will be branded as the Microsoft SQ3, and it's based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 platform.

It should support 5G, too.  In terms of specs, the Surface Pro 9 could be available in green, light blue, black, and silver options. The screen size is expected to be 13.5-inches.

The Surface Laptop 5 might launch as a 13.5-incher and a 15-inch device.
